The tale of North Street begins in the small town of Angus where a delicious fish and chip takeaway lies.

of North Street

North Street Chip Shop can be found just 7 miles from the charming town of Kirriemuir, the birthplace of Peter Pan’s creator J. M Barrie. North Street Chip Shop owner, Stuart, grew up in our sister shop ‘The Round ‘O’ Chip Shop’ helping his parents working in the business. As an adult, Stuart feels like he is reliving his childhood everyday just like Peter Pan! This attitude gives Stuart his never ending enthusiasm for Fish and Chips.

Working at the helm of the business, he creates strong teams, consistently delivers delicious fish and chips, and has worked with the National Federation of Fish Friers as Vice President to provide help and support to fellow chip shop owners. Our team are dedicated to food quality and providing great customer service.

From learning and sharing one another’s passions and taking customer feedback on board, to perfecting the fish and chip craft, Stuart is continually encouraging improvement to become the best they can be.

Passionate about
the environment

As a fish and chip takeaway, we care about our impact on the environment and our community. Aside from our pea tubs, which can be washed and repurposed, we do not use any plastic or polystyrene in our packaging.

We use cardboard boxes and paper bags, and our Vegware curry sauce tubs, lids, and cutlery are composed entirely of plants. These are all designed to be composted commercially with food waste where permitted.

Caring for
our community

With our regular North Street Chip Shop customers at the heart of the business, we give back to the community when they need it most. Over the years we have donated hundreds of raffle prizes such as two fish suppers and a kids meal.

We do what we can to help local businesses and fundraisers such as Forfar Athletic FC, Forfar in Flower, The Horticultural Society, Forfar Historical Society, and Murton Farm Tea Room, and Nature Reserve.

We love to support those who support us.

No gluten, all the taste

We want everyone to enjoy North Street fish and chips, which is why we hold a gluten free lunch event on the last Saturday of every month at our chip shop. Our Gluten Free team are well trained and have passed the Coeliac UK catering course.

Prior to opening, a fully documented deep clean is carried out and the shop is reorganised to remove the risk of cross contamination with gluten, allowing our customers to order with confidence.
